Research your proposal:

 

In order for us to evaluate a proposal effectively, it is essential that we receive additional information about the planned book and your expertise or the team of authors’ expertise! This information enables us to reach a decision on whether or not to provisionally consider publishing your proposed new book.

 

When you are planning your book proposal, please answer the following:

• Who is the target student group (target market) who will be using the book?

• Indicate what is the potential size of this group?

• Explain why these students or institutions would choose to buy or prescribe the book?

• Indicate what the unique competitive advantage is that the book offers?

• What other book titles or other mediums can be considered as possible competition (local text as well as international)?

• What things make your book better than any of these competing books / sources?

• Where will your target market go to buy your book?

• In what format will the target market most likely prefer to buy the book – printed and/or e-format?

• Finally, does the book have a sustainable market - will people continue to buy the book for several years after the first year of publication?

• A maximum five-page synopsis of the book

• Index of the chapters

• A draft of your first chapter or example of previous writing.

• A covering letter outlining the proposed market for the book, answering the questions posed above.

• CV of author(s).

• Contact details including postal and email address as well as telephone numbers.

• Provide an undertaking that the proposal contains no information from other authors which could imply plagiarism

• Confirm in writing that the proposal has not been submitted elsewhere for publication purposes or already published in another format.
